If bladder leaks happen with everyday movement or physical activity, you may be experiencing stress incontinence.
Understanding the symptom
Stress incontinence is bladder leakage that happens when movement or physical activity increases pressure on the bladder. For some people it happens occasionally. For others, it begins affecting exercise, social activities, travel, or everyday routines.
The pelvic-floor muscles help support bladder control. When those muscles are weak or do not activate effectively at the right time, sudden increases in pressure from coughing, sneezing, lifting, or exercise can lead to leakage.
Bladder control also depends on coordination between the pelvic-floor muscles and the nervous system. Muscle strength is only part of the picture.
The Pelvic Floor Restoration Program is a noninvasive treatment approach focused on pelvic-floor function and bladder control.
If bladder leakage is interfering with exercise, everyday activities, or your confidence, start with a consultation to discuss your symptoms and learn more about your options.
